Palladium is a member of the platinum metals family and has always been used in the production of jewelry as an alloy to yellow gold. Recently however, it is now
being used in its pure form to produce jewelry pieces and is being offered as another metal type to consumers. It received its own hallmark in 2009. It has a lower density than platinum but is almost as hard and has a similar “white” color. It has other added advantages in that it’s hypoallergenic and less expensive for a hard wearing metal.
